A FRog in Boiling Water

We all know the analogy, if you drop a frog in a pot of boiling water - it’ll hop right out, but if you turn the heat up slowly, it’ll stay there until the end. That’s how I approached the MyCase Redesign. With a user base that isn’t very technically sophisticated and some users having been on the platform for nearly a decade… changing the app fundamentally required that I plan appropriately and tackle things in phases. Rather than a wholesale UX and UI redesign, I opted for a stepped approach by which we’d slowly release the newly birthed Focus Design System to small groups of customers and listen closely. After reaching critical mass on the re-skinned system (with a negative feedback rate of .05% of customers) I then released new designs that improved the UX across major sections of the app.
